Presenting

In our discussion of presentation skills- we discussed the importance of using clear and precise speech. It is important to introduce who you are and your experience with the topic. Being positive and flexible in your presentation is neccessary to keep the audience listening.
It is important to continue to bring the discussion back around to the objectives of the presentation- so the audience is very clear with the purposes of your presentation.
The most important tool that will keep your audience listening is to have a sense of humor and variety in how you share your wealth of knowledge.

Peg Fisher

Hello all,
I attended Cadre a couple of years ago, and am happy to be back. I am the Tech Coordinator for Poplar School District and the grant director for the BTG PSATT grant. When I started with computers 37 years ago I felt I was on the cutting edge - very much a forward thinking person. Now, with the exponential growth in the technologies of the past few years I feel I am "running" to catch up and sometimes feel like an old dog trying to learn new tricks. I plan on continuing to work at staying up-to-speed. Thanks for the help!

Good Morning-
I am Rachal Edwards and I was born and raised in Missoula, MT. I have taught at Clinton School for 6 years. My primary classes are Social Studies and Practical Arts (Technology!) Yea. I love what I teach!
Unfortunately, the only pictures of myself that I have are with fish...here is a lovely Bulltrout (shshsh!!) that I caught this summer. I have been involved with TicToc for 3 years and have learned so much!! I received my Master's Degree from Lesley University- in the Educational Technology. However, things have changed immensely in the world of technology since that time.

Clinton teacher and coach

My name is Amanda McGill. I have taught fifth grade for five years at Clinton School. I am also the basketball and volleyball coach of our junior high girls and boys. Before Clinton, I taught 3rd grade in Pahrump, Nevada for 5 years and then I did 5th grade for a year in St. Regis, Montana.

This is my 5th year as part of the TIC TOC grant, which has been an amazing experience for me. I started barely knowing how to turn on a computer and now I am the on-site coordinator for my school. I now have a Smart board in my classroom as well as a set of Palm Pilots. I feel blessed to have been a part of this grant and will be sorry it is gone next year.

On a personal level, I have a 14 year old son Austin who is a freshman in high school at Hellgate High in Missoula. Four years ago, I bought the house I grew up in in Milltown, MT. I enjoy house projects, reading, gardening, and outdoors activities. I am a die hard Griz fan with season tickets to the football games. GO GRIZ!!

Hello!
I am a Technology Integration Specialist at Skyview High School in Billings.

I have started a staff development program at Skyview called STILT: Skyview Teachers Integrating and Learning Technology. This program gives teachers equipment, release time, and training in a small group atmosphere. The teachers place themselves in the role of student and explorer. It is really quite effective!!

Thank you for allowing me to attend the MT Cadre collaboration meeting. I have met some wonderful people and have gotten a chance to see what other educators are doing with technology integration.

thanks!!

Mary-Kate Nienhuis: Judith Gap Computer Nerd

MK Nienhuis.png
Hi there! My name is Mary-Kate Nienhuis. I am the illustrious chair of the English Department in Judith Gap, Montana. Impressed? Don't be! I AM the entire English Department! :) As I said, I teach English to grades 7-12. I also recently completed the Intel Teach to the Future program and achieved the distinction of "Master Trainer". I have been working with the Math teacher, Patti Lemmon (also a Master Trainer) to teach our staff how to integrate technology into the classroom. In addition to having a voracious appetite for cool tech stuff, I also teach Drama and Humanities. I have a Kindergartener, Reilly--she's five, and very precocious. I also have a massive, obnoxious dog named Hunter. This is my 3rd year teaching in Judith Gap, and I'm enjoying it very much. If you would like to contact me, my email address is marykatefrances@hotmail.com.
